Written and directed by Aleshea Harris, based on her play, Is God Is is a brutal, funny, strange, and unforgettable revenge story about two emotionally and physically scarred sisters sent on a mission by their dying mother. Kara Young and Mallori Johnson are incredible as Racine and Anaia; the whole cast is brilliant, including Vivica A. Fox, Sterling K. Brown, Janelle Monáe, Erika Alexander, Mykelti Williamson, and Josiah Cross.

It is violent. It is theatrical. It is wild. And it might be one of the best movies of the year.
